John Rockwood began his career in photography after being heavily influenced by the blues resurgence led by British bands such as The Yardbirds and The Rolling Stones in the 1960s.

Being an ambitious young man with a camera, Rockwood gained backstage access to many concerts in the Detroit and Chicago area and photographed great musicians on and off stage. Rockwood’s photography has been featured on numerous album covers, in books about Muddy Waters, Bill Wyman, Waylon Jennings, and consistently showcased in Living Blues, one of the most durable chronicles of the blues experience.

Included in his collection are photographs of legends like B.B King, Buddy Guy, Bo Diddley, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Muddy Waters. Rockwood’s journey as a photographer continues to this day. His camera has captured his favourite artists in their homes, backstage, in smoky barrooms, backyard barbeques, juke joints, major concert halls, and wherever the blues and rock and roll are played. Rockwood resides happily in Toledo, Ohio.
