Richard McCaffrey hails from Providence, Rhode Island.
In 1971 he founded an early alternative newspaper in RI called “The Point” which covered the local and national cultural issues of the time. A significant part of the paper was devoted to art and music, which inspired the start of Richard’s career as a photographer in the music industry.
Over his career he photographed some of the biggest names in rock n roll, including Blondie, The Rolling Stones, The Eagles, The Clash, Led Zeppelin and many more. He was also present at the famous last Sex Pistols gig. We particularly love his shots of Iggy Pop performing on stage with David Bowie playing keyboards in the background, and Patti Smith holding a portrait of herself.
